With autumn officially here, I have put together ‘This autumn’s guide to the hottest lip colours.’ The beauty of lip colours is that, it’s one of the easiest things you can apply to your face that gives you a real lift – and I love that.
I’m a big fan of wearing lipsticks; I have so many in almost every colour possible. But don’t you find we tend to stick to our 2 or 3 favourite colours? There’s nothing wrong with having favourites, but with so many choices and amazing colours – why not explore a little?
So, let’s break out that cycle this autumn and try something new. To get you started, I have rounded up, ‘This autumn’s hottest lip colours’ that are trending right now. I have ‘tried and tested’ these beautiful colours myself, and given my honest opinions along with some useful tips….enjoy x
Jouer cosmetics, warm brick red
I’m in love with this super smooth liquid lip crème by Jouer cosmetics. It’s a perfect warm brick red and compliments deep skin tones really well. It’s last for hours without the need to reapply. But what I love most is the matte finish; it’s highly pigmented and really boosts the colour without a shiny glare.
Tip: in my experience matte lipsticks work best, when your lips are hydrated. So before bed apply a bit of Vaseline or lip balm to prep your lips.

Lip Combo – Anastasia Beverly Hills & Huda Beauty Lip Contour
This next one is a lip combo to die for. It gives you a warm glossy bronze finish that’s perfect for the autumn season. I’ve lined my lips with Huda Beauty lip contour in ‘trendsetter’ and filled them in with Anastasia Beverly Hills lip-gloss in ‘warm bronze.’ Both products can be worn alone if preferred, but I totally prefer pairing them up to give a customised plumper lip finish.
Tip: If you’re wearing this lip combo on an evening out, take the Anastasia Beverly Hills gloss with you as it might need topping up more often then your matte lipsticks.
Price tag: Anastasia Beverly Hills, warm bronze, $16 (around £12), Sephora
Huda Beauty lip contours, trendsetter, £16, Cult Beauty
YSL Rouge Pur Couture, Grenet Satisfaction
Your autumn lip colour collection wouldn’t be complete, without a vintage vamp lip colour. And YSL rouge pur couture matte lipstick, have achieved the perfect glamorous vamp colour in ‘Grenat Satisfaction’. It’s a deep red/brown tone with a velvet smooth application. It oozes luxuriousness, and the best thing is that it lasts a good few hours before having to reapply.
Tip: although this range is infused with Jojoba oil, you still need to hydrate your lips before applying. I would recommend prep + prime lip by Mac cosmetics.
Price tag: £26, YSL
Beauty Bakerie, Lip Whip in Gingersnap
OK, so Beauty Bakerie has nailed it with this ‘Gingersnap’ lip whip. It’s a beautiful blend of autumn colours like browns, ginger and spice giving it a warm terracotta brown matte finish. There’s so much to love about Beauty Bakeries ‘Gingersnap’ lip whip. They’re waterproof and smudge proof, which means you can leave it on for hours without reapplying. And these guys have gone one step further by making their lip whips, 100% gluten free, cruelty free and vegan – making it an ethically conscious brand #love
Tip: you’ll need a good oil based makeup remover to remove Gingersnap lip whip. I use and recommend ‘Garnier Micellar Oil-Infused Cleansing Water.’ Buy here
Price tag: £16, Cult Beauty
Lip Combo – Mac Cosmetics & Huda Beauty Lip Contour
I’m loving my lip combos this season, so here’s another one. But this time a soft muted, brownish pink in a satin finish. I’ve lined my lips with Huda Beauty lip contour in, ‘trophy wife’ and filled it in with Mac lipstick in ‘twig’ giving it a custom finish. I love the satin texture because there kind of like a semi-matte finish, making it a little more hydrating then full matte finishes. This combo will give you a soft look that works well in the autumn season.
Tip: This lip colour is pretty hydrating, but I still prefer wearing prep + prime lip by Mac just to give an extra boost of hydration.
Price tag: MAC, twig lipstick, £15.50, buy from Mac Cosmetic
Huda Beauty lip contour, Trophy wife, £16, Cult Beauty
Final Thoughts
I would normally finish by telling you guys my favourite, but I can honestly say I love all these autumn lip colour…but if I really had to pick, it would have to be Jouer Cosmetics ‘brick red.’ It’s the perfect matte red, and really suits any skin tone.
I would love to hear your view and comments. And remember sharing is caring, so if you enjoyed my post you can share it via the social media links.
