A few weeks ago, Abz and I headed to London for a mini weekend break. If you follow me on instagram you would have seen my insta stories gone all crazy! We had a jam packed weekend complimented by beautiful weather. But the best part was our perfect afternoon in Chelsea, where we had brunch at the Ivy Chelsea Garden followed by a visit to the Saatchi Gallery.
Ivy Chelsea Garden
The Ivy has a English country garden vibe to it, especially with the bright flowered entrance – my camera couldn’t come out fast enough. I feel an instagram pic coming on lol, after all the Ivy is the most instagrammable restaurant in London.
It’s the perfect place to grab brunch on a sunny afternoon, we sat inside but if you have a reservation you can request to sit in the garden area. The weekend brunch menu is served on Saturdays and Sundays 11:30am – 4:00pm, and the selection is fabulous. I went for the Eggs Royal which was delicious. Oh and if you’re lucky you might spot one of the ‘Made in Chelsea’ cast members brunching.
Before we left we took a selfie outside to get us in the mood for the ‘Selfie to Self-Expression’ exhibition.
Saatchi Gallery
After brunch we took a short walk to Saatchi Gallery, where they had the ‘From Selfie to Self-Expression’ exhibition. Guys this is totally worth seeing, the exhibition is all about the emerging role of the mobile phone as an artistic medium for self-expression. I loved the positive spin this exhibition took on exploring selfies as an art form. Taking selfies is a big part of our contemporary culture and I love how Saatchi Gallery had captured this in the World’s first exhibition exploring the history of the selfie.
This is an entire room of people talking to their phones making videos, does it remind you of something?
Fact: Humans take 93 million selfies per day.
The selfie is by far the most expansionist form of visual self-expression
The ‘Selfie to Self-Expression’ exhibition is on until the 30th May 2017, and is FREE so definitely worth checking out. The Saatchi Gallery is also labelled as the worlds No1 museum on social media, so it makes sense that it hosted the world first selfie exhibition.
So if any of you are heading to London soon, it’s definitely worth checking out the places above for a perfect afternoon in Chelsea.
