Date Night At Tom’s Kitchen

Hi lovelies, so two weeks ago Abz and I were invited to Tom’s Kitchen to check out their dinner menu. I’ve never dined at Tom’s Kitchen so I was super excited to try it out. For those of you who don’t know Tom’s Kitchen is a chic contemporary brasserie, and has 3 restaurants across the UK. The one we dined at was at the Mailbox in Birmingham.

To make the most out of the evening, we decided to do date night. And of course date night means cute outfits and mirror selfies before leaving the house.

On arrival

So on arrival we were greeted by the front house staff and immediately taken to our seats. I liked the open-plan space, dim lighting and stylish ambiance of the restaurant.

Dinner Menu

The menu offers traditional British comfort food, just what we both like. We went for a starter and main. To be honest as soon as we saw the menu we knew what main we wanted, the 650g Chateaubriand steak. Abz and I are both steak lovers so this was an easy decision.

We were both a little indecisive on the starters, but Liz our waitress helped us out with that. She recommend the Devonshire Crab Cake and the Salmon fish cake which was from the specials board.

Mixed olives to start

Spicy Devonshire Crab Cake

So this was Abz starter, he absolutely loved it. The crab cake was served on a bed of cucumber, quinoa salsa.

Salmon Fish Cake

I went for the Salmon fish cake, it was delicious but probably a little to heavy considering we had a Chateaubriand for mains.

To be honest the portion sizes for the starters are very generous.

650G Chateaubriand Steak

After our starters, we had a few more drinks whilst we patiently waited for our main course…the 650g Chateaubriand Steak.

It was served with a mixed leaf salad and tripped cooked chips. We went for the peppercorn sauce & Béarnaise Butter.

Let’s just take a moment to appreciate this beauty.

We asked for the steak to be cooked medium rare and the cut was tenderloin filet. The steak was incredible it seriously tasted amazing and was cooked to perfection.

If you guys follow me on instagram you will know that my husband, Abz knows his steaks and he was very complimentary of this one.

We finished our meal with a cappuccino and decided what movie to watch. The great thing about this location is that Every man cinema is literally a 3 minute walk.

Overall we were both really impressed with our dining experience at Tom’s Kitchen. Everything from the service from Liz & Nadia down to the food was perfect.

The Chateaubriand was our favorite and I would highly recommend this to anyone that’s planning to dine at Tom’s kitchen.

However, depending on your appetite, I would probably suggest having a lighter starter as the Steak is very filling.

Overall, it was a lovely dining experience together with great food and service. I’d highly recommend Tom’s kitchen to anyone that enjoys British comfort quality food.
